Programs

Casa Teresa can help you!

We provide three different programs for our residents:

Casa Teresa offers high quality training and education programs in the areas of prenatal care, parenting, health and nutrition education tailored to the needs of each resident, all in the security and comfort of a loving and supportive residential setting. Career counseling, financial guidance and life skills are stressed, increasing the probability of a successful future for mother and baby.

Setting

All three of the Casa Teresa programs are located near beautiful, historic Old Town Orange, close to the center of town. Residents have a short walk to shopping and public transportation. Upon entry into the program, a resident will share an apartment suite with another resident and then transfer to a single suite one month before her baby is born. Both the double and single suites contain their own kitchen and bath, thus affording privacy and encouraging independence. Residents in the program generally stay at Casa Teresa for two months after the baby is born.

Support

  • Medical support-staff monitors the health of both mother and child.
  • Psychological counseling is provided each week during group therapy and available on a daily basis for individual help.
  • Nutritional education and the benefits of exercise are emphasized.
  • Financial management and budgeting techniques are taught.
  • Childbirth options, methods, and support are offered.
  • Career counseling, resume writing and job training are emphasized.
  • Computer literacy skills are made available through on-going training.
  • A successful transition back into society at the end of the resident’s stay is stressed.
  • Monitoring of past residents after departure to help insure continued success.

Low-Income Housing

Residency at Casa Teresa is provided on a payment “sliding scale” basis, allowing a low-allowing a low-cost living arrangement individualized to the available budget of each resident. No woman is ever turned away for lack of financial resources.
