Nicole Shares Her Story ...
At first I had no idea where I
was headed, but I knew I needed to change my life for the sake of my daughter
and myself. I just got out of jail and needed
to get on the right path. I found Casa
Teresa through a program called, “The Great Escape.” The
moment I walked into the house, I felt immediately this is where I needed to be. I had no where to turn and was in the
dark, but at that moment Casa Teresa showed me the light.
On April 21st, 2007 I
moved into Casa Teresa and began my journey to create a new life for myself. It was not easy and learned many lessons from
everyone on staff. Casa Teresa was an
amazing role model in every step that I took. I learned to be self sufficient, responsible
and mature. I established an honest relationship with my family, and most
importantly I gained the respect of everyone involved. My life has brought great challenges, but I am
determined to rise above all the negativity and reach
the highest peak possible.
I have now completed the program
at Casa Teresa, and have sole custody of my 18 month old daughter. We live in an apartment without the help of
welfare. I currently have a stable job and reliable car and love the feeling of
being able to support my daughter and myself. My goals are to continue on the path of
success and slowly climb to the top. I feel now I can achieve any goal I put my
mind to and it is the greatest feeling not taking the easy way out of anything.
One day I hope to go back to Casa Teresa and volunteer my time and give all the support and love I received to other women in need. I am so thankful each and every day for all the time and love they have given me. If it weren’t for Casa Teresa I do not feel I would have made it and become the person I have today. Thank you Casa Teresa for welcoming me into your home and for helping me become a stronger person.
